Watched - The X-Men Movie Series (and some of the multiverse Avengers stuff
In preparation for Doomsday (2026) coming out in a few months my roommate and I have been going through the X-men movies from the 2000s, as well as the side movies with Wolverine and Deadpool. I am saving my reviews for after I've caught up with all the movies. That said! I think I might not care for the movies directed by BS (Bryan Singer) very much and I haven't read too many nice things about him as a person either.

The movies have all been watched. Below will be the finalized tierlist. I think I will stick to my previously stated opinions! To go into slight detail here, Wolverine Origins is a god awful movie, I wanted to turn it off 2 minutes in when I heard the dialogue. The Last Stand just has horrible scenes and everyone acting really OOC based off of what I had learned of the characters previously. Dark Phoenix was so bad that I had a bathroom emergency that erased the movie from my brain, I must have transfered the Dark Phoenix out of me. The Deadpool movies still hit, I think they are very corny and will age abhorantly but very watchable which is more than I can say for the afformentioned 3. The prequels were fine, I think everyone in them is very attractive and the movies are watchable if not about the level of an average MCU movie. The original trilogy is very 2000s and I enjoy that about them. Not much to say besides tbat on those. Deadpool and Wolverine hits a very good spot for the exact dynamic I always dreamed of for a Deadpool film and I would like more crossover movies like that. Logan is a wonderful film as I explain beneath this post. All in all, I am fully prepared for Doomsday, I should think, and hope it at least lives up to some hype.
Watched - Soylent Green (1973) 09/11/26 3/5 ★
Didn't want to watch Dark Phoenix yet because it seemed like it would be bad, so I instead watched (rewatched) Soylent Green, a hopelessly realistic depiction of where food costs and housing are heading. Fear of dystopia following corporate greed and the threat of cold war likely hung heavily over the people of the time that this movie came out, if many of the films from that period are any evidence. That said, Soylent Green itself is a bit weak at times and predictable at others, though Heston and Robinson both perform excellently. As mid-line as this movie is, it is nearly impossible not to tear up at the orange room scene, and I found myself breaking on it even during a rewatch. The movie lacks a lot of fundemental goodness, but that one section really saves what would have been a largely boring experience. 3/5 only for that.
Watched - Logan (2017) 09/07/26 4.5/5 ★
I had no doubt that this movie would make me cry and I was not disappointed. This is the first of the X-Men movies I can remember hearing advertisements for and advised to watch it, but I rightfully avoided the film until I caught up with the movies for the most part. That happened today. Logan was an excellent film reminsicent of the aspect I love from one of my favorite games, Telltale's The Walking Dead:Season One, and much like that game, set me up for knowing I'd cry at a beautiful father and daughter relationship. Logan died with his heart in his hands and God isnt' that fucking beautiful 4.5/5 because I need less of the bad guys and more of the family road trip with "Chuck."
Watched - Spiderman:Brand New Day (2026), Thunderbolts* (2025), and Fantastic Four:First Steps (2025) all in August:

I will start by saying that all of the Tom Holland Spiderman movies have ranged around this rating for me. I think that Watts does a better job with Spiderman's social life and depicting that interaction but Cretton surprised me with how well he handled Peter's depression and how he handled the bleak new world around him. But it is Holland and how he handles Peter's more well-known life-situation that really impresses me. Having watched Thunderbolts* after this film I think I appreciate the interaction between him and Yelena a lot more, specifically knowing that her battle with depression relates greatly to what Peter must overcome in this film. I still prefer Homecoming and No Way Home, but neither of those movies have that absolutely insane foot shot in the public bath so this movie definitely has that going for it. Four out of Five Stars.

This movie might deserve closer to 3.5/5 stars BUT I'm sticking to my guns because I love a suicidal squad movie that battles depression as a physical being while also simultaneously making me gasp when said depression evaperates a child like a nuke stain on NYC pavement. This movie had an insanely good second act, surprising me as much as The Wolverine movie did when I watched that. I dont really care much for the characters that aren't Bob, Yelena, and Alexei, but I did like seeing Kurt and Goldie's son for the first time and instantly recognizing who he was. All-in-all, Marvel's suicide squad was very watchable, SO much better than that stupid Strange movie that came out a few years ago. This movie gave me hope that Marvel could do Doomsday at least somewhat impressively so I look forward to that.

Fantastic Four was the first Marvel Comic series I ever tried reading. While I didn't stick to it because the original era comics are super boring, it has a small place in my heart for the amazing scene where Reed loses all of their money in the stock market. I ranted about that panel to my friends and my roommate edited my rant to look like it came from Doom. Instantly, I began to relate to Doom wholeheartedly. Now for the movie, I could go either way on how I really feel about it. The sets are gorgeous, costumes: gorgeous, color-grading is smooth, and the entire movie is just pretty and nice to look at. That said, the entire film up until the climax feels like a trailer, I guess because it's trying to wrap up stuff we already know and get to the good stuff, but it still feels hard to connect to any of the characters. I remember in the comics and in the orignal films I watched from the 2000s that I instantly hated Johnny and Thing's appearances and interactions, but with this movie I didn't feel like I had a chance to hate or dislike anyone (except Reed because like seriously bro if I was on this planet and you said you needed to give up your kid or I'd die and you refused I would absolutely team up with or support Doom instead). 3.5/5 because the movie is so pretty and that's all I can really say I feel about it.
Watched - The Holdovers (2023) 3.5/5★
What can I say about The Holdovers? I can start by mentioning here that most movies fall into a 3 or 3.5 rating for me especially if they were just a good or interesting watch and wouldn't mind watching again. For a movie to get a 4, I have to be particularly impressed and most likely cry, and to get a 5 a movie has to be something I will make my personality for the rest of my life. The Holdovers is by all means a good movie. I adore the ending, the interactions between the main characters is fun and intriguing and sad at times, and I can definitely see myself rewatching it with my roommate or my sister around Christmas time. I cannot say that it wowed me, and the acting was at times weirdly off for a reputable release, but I can say that this movie is good and worth a watch. And that the boy is saved by the efforts of the two adults by the end has struck me in its beauty the longer I have sat with it.
Watched - Project Hail Mary (2026) with my roommate 4/5★
Oh Hail Mary, how you have continued my moderate adoration for Gosling I cannot thank you enough. Rocky was 100% a character I knew I would love before the movie even started, and he did not disappoint in the slightest. This movie would have been a 5/5 but it had about 10 endings before it was over that did drag just a little bit. Other than that I can't speak much for this movie other than it just having the perfect formula for a good film. And I am a sucker for that.
Watched - Sleepaway Camp (1983) with my sister 4/5★
My favorite films tend to fall into two different catagories: movies that are good and strong, and weirdass vintage films that keep me interested and guessing every scene. SLeepaway Camp falls into the latter of those two and has in one swift move earned a spot in my heart. I love the silly characters, even if their sideplots are absolutely meaningless for the most part, and the familial protection that surrounds the main characters and their strange plots. This movie feels like watching a Dario Argento film, perfectly cut with odd motives for murder and saving its eerie and creepy shots for the most perfect moments. The twist was unique and surpising for the time that it came out, and it left me feeling like I was meant to watch this by the end. 4/5 stars almost entirely just because of the ending and the main actress making me laugh and cheer throughout. Exactly the kinda movie I look forward to finding more of.
